A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has remanded leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), in the custody of the Department of State Security.

This follows an application by the State when he was arraigned before the Court, emphasizing that the IPOB leader jumped bail that was earlier granted him by the Court while facing Treason and Terrorism charges.

The Court presided over by Hon. Justice Binta Nyanko consequently adjourned the case to 26th July 2021.

Kanu was granted bail in April 2017 for health reasons but jumped bail granted him by the court.

OSAKPAMWAN NOMOLESS DISCHARGED AND ACQUITTED OF ASSAULT ON OBASEKI’S CSO

A Benin High Court, Criminal Division, has discharged and acquitted OSAKPAMWAN Eriyo(AKA NOMOLESS) and one Sunday Osaguona on a two count charge of conspiracy and assault brought against them.

Delivering judgment, the trial Judge, Hon. Justice Efe Ikponmwoba held that the Prosecution failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.

Whereas the Court noted that a petition written by one Chief Osaro Idah was the genesis of the petition alleging assault on the Chief Security Officer to Governor Obaseki, Yusuf Haruna, the CSO who was alleged to have been assaulted on 21st December 2016, never mentioned in his statement to the Police the following day that he was pushed or dragged out of the Banquet Hall in Government House.

Reacting to the judgment, Counsel to Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo, Usunobun Lawson Evbayiro, described the judgment as a victory for the common man as reinforced by the sayin

IZE-IYAMU CONGRATULATES OBASEKI:MAKES CASE FOR “ABSCONDEE” LEGISLATORS, COUNCIL OFFICIALS.

The APC Candidate for the 2020 Edo Governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki following the Supreme Court judgment delivered on Friday.

Ize-Iyamu recalled “your supporters had instituted thirteen (13) different pre-election cases against my deputy and I; all seeking to disqualify us from participating in the election. On our part, our party, the APC had only one case against Your Excellency and your party. We also deliberately did not go to the
Elections Tribunal, not because we did no have issues but because we felt it was better to allow you face the job at hand, moreso as our party at the National level had congratulated you.
We are happy that all these cases have come to an end. Now that it is all over, please accept my congratulations“.

The APC Governorship Candidate then appealed to Governor Obaseki to consider the pertinent issues of the 14 constituencies which included two from the Governor’s Local Government, Oredo, and another two from the Deputy Governor’s Local Government to Etsako West.

Ize-Iyamu stated that though the matter is pending in Court, Obaseki is in a vantage position to consider an out-of- court settlement of the issue, in the overall interest of the state.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu also canvassed the need for the Governor’s intervention in the issue of elected Local
Government Chairmen, Vice-chairmen, Councilors and Supervisory Councillors who were suspended and removed from office.

According to him, APC, as the opposition party in the state, will ensure that the present administratin does the right thing always.

LOOTERS BREAK INTO EDO COVID-19 WHAREHOUSE

Some residents of Benin City have besiege the Edo Medical Stores at Medical Stores Road, Benin City, where information states that the covid-19 pallatives were stored in the warehouse.

As early as 8am, Saturday, people started milling around the premises obviously to break in and collect their own share of the pallatives.

It was gathered that some of them started putting Calls to others through phone to come to “where it was about to happen”

Within minutes, the place was packed full with people who were trying to force their way in despite the presence of a combined team of Soldiers and Anti Riot Policemen.

Not minding shooting into the air by the security agents, they finally had their way into the place and started looting whatever was on sight.

Items carted away incuded; bags of grains suspected to be rice, cartons of Noodles, oxygen motorized knapsacks, cooking and oxygen gas cylinders, air conditioners, refrigerators and other items they could lay their hands on.

Medical Stores Road, New Lagos Road and adjoining street witnessed huge human traffic as the looters had field day.

EDO GOVERNMENT RELAXES CURFEW, URGES RESIDENTS TO GO ABOUT THEIR NORMAL BUSINESSES

EDO STATE GOVERNMENT HAD RELAXED THE DUSK TO DAWN CURFEW IMPOSED IN THE STATE ON MONDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2020 TO QUELL CIVIL DISTURBANCES IN THE WAKE OF THE HIJACKED #EndSARS PROTEST.

IN A STATEMENT ISSUED BY SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE GOVERNOR ON MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY, MR. CRUSOE OSAGIE, THE CURFEW IS TO COMMENCE FROM 4PM TO 6AM AND WOULD LAST FOR 72 HOURS SUBJECT TO REVIEWAL.

THE STATEMENT URGED RESIDENTS OF THE STATE TO ADHERE STRICTLY TO THE NEW DIRECTIVE AND GO ABOUT THEIR NORMAL BUSINESSES AND RETURN HOME HOME BEFORE THE KICK-OFF OF THE CURFEW.
