GOV. OBASEKI INSPECTS EDO MEDICAL STORES AFTER ATTACK BY HOODLUMS

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has expressed worry over Saturday’s looting at the Edo Medical Stores in Benin City.

The Governor made the position known when he led the, the Deputy Governor, Comrade
Shaibu, Minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo and other Government functionaries on a visit to the vandalized wharehouse.

Governor said he was sad by the development because the wharehouse is where medical and hospital supplies that feed the whole hospital network system in the state and those who use the hospitals are not the wheathiest but the poorest in the society.

He described the act as wicked, emphasizing that the amount of destruction after assessment will surely run into millions of naira.

According to him, “the destruction shows and tells you that this is not the intention of the #EndSARS protesters, there is more to it. We will get to the root of the matter”.

Speaking, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, urged those who find themselves in custody of what they cannot eat to return them to be used or destroyed professionally as some of the medications can be very harmful to the body.

On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, disclosed that over fifty persons have been arrested in connection with the looting and destruction.

Kokumo said the hoodlums have already made away with the few food pallatives after which they switched to the Medical equipments.

He however disclosed that the police authorities was yet to confirm whether or not anyone sustained gunshot injuries during the looting.
