UBTH DETAINS WOMAN OVER NON-PAYMENT OF HOSPITAL BILLS AFTER LOSING CHILD TO CESAREAN SESSION

Mr. Sunday Oyebamiji is a peasant farmer in Iguobazuwa.


His daughter, Bidemi Taiwo, gave birth to a baby boy through cesearan session at the UBTH in March this year but lost the baby.


Since then, authorities of the UBTH detained her over non-payment of the balance sum of over five hundred thousand naira.


The young man who impregnated the girl ran away and the girl’s father, Mr. Sunday Oyebamiji, has been in charge of spendings.

He is seeking help from Government, corporate bodies and individuals to be able to settle the hospital bills.

JAIL BREAK: OBASEKI HANDS ONE WEEK OF GRACE TO FLEEING ESCAPEES

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has extended, by one week, the the ultimatum given to excapees to return to the Benin and Oko Correctional facilities.

The one week of grace was as a result of the positive response by fleeing inmates to the call by the State Governor for their return after the jail breaks.

Disclosing the outcome of a security meeting between Governor Godwin Obaseki and heads of security agencies in the State, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategies, Crusoe Osagie, said the ultimatum ends Friday 30th October 2020.

Osagie added that the new window was to allow for more inmates to return to the correctional facilities.

He disclosed that with the improving security situation in the State, the Government has reviewed the curfew from 6pm to 6am daily beginning Saturday 24th October 2020.

While appreciating Edo people for adhering to Government’s directives, Osagie reiterated Government’s commitment to the security of lives and property and resolved to continue to work with the agencies to ensure peace and normalcy is fully restored in the State.

UNEASY CALM RETURNS TO BENIN CITY

Business activities have again bounce back to life following the State Government’s directive that the dusk to dawn curfew imposed in the State be relaxed from 4pm to 6am.

The curfew was as a result of the #EndSARS protest which was allegedly hijacked by hoodlums to to burn down about five Police Divisions, attacks on Oko and Benin correctional facilities where a total of one thousand, nine hundred and ninety three inmates were freed as well as pockets of terror unleashed on the law abiding residents of the State.

As at press time, businesses were open in full swing at the Ring road which is the city centre, Lagos street, Sapele road, Misssion, Akpakpava, Sokponba roads and other adjoining roads.

It was also gathered that Ugbowo/Lagos road, New Benin market, Cooke road and Forestry Road where traders in Tiles business had field day doing their businesses.

Some residents expressed joy at the latest development which they say would guarantee their daily bread.

IGP ORDERS IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF POLICEMEN FROM VIPs

The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Policemen attached to Very Important Personalities, VIPs.

The orders, however, exempted those attached to Government Houses, Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Inspector General warned that any protect personnel found escorting or guarding any VIP, with or without a firearm will be deemed to have been deployed by the Commander who will be sanctioned.

The affected personnel were urged to report to the respective Commands Commissioner of Police

ONDO GOVERNOR LOSES CAMPAIGN OFFICE, POLICE STATIONS AND CORRECTIONAL CENTRE TO #EndSARS PROTESTERS

The campaign Office of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been attacked and set ablaze by suspected #EndSARS protesters.

The attack is one of the many public and private properties torched by the protesters in Akure the Ondo State capital and other parts of the State.

The protest which assumed a new dimension may not be unconnected with reported cases of killings of peaceful protesters by security agents in various parts of the country.

The protesters earlier, attacked and burnt the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Akure where several inmates in the facility were freed, even as not less than two Police Divisions were attacked and set ablaze.

EDO GOVERNMENT RELAXES CURFEW, URGES RESIDENTS TO GO ABOUT THEIR NORMAL BUSINESSES

EDO STATE GOVERNMENT HAD RELAXED THE DUSK TO DAWN CURFEW IMPOSED IN THE STATE ON MONDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2020 TO QUELL CIVIL DISTURBANCES IN THE WAKE OF THE HIJACKED #EndSARS PROTEST.

IN A STATEMENT ISSUED BY SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE GOVERNOR ON MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY, MR. CRUSOE OSAGIE, THE CURFEW IS TO COMMENCE FROM 4PM TO 6AM AND WOULD LAST FOR 72 HOURS SUBJECT TO REVIEWAL.

THE STATEMENT URGED RESIDENTS OF THE STATE TO ADHERE STRICTLY TO THE NEW DIRECTIVE AND GO ABOUT THEIR NORMAL BUSINESSES AND RETURN HOME HOME BEFORE THE KICK-OFF OF THE CURFEW.
