IGP SUSPENEDS ABBA KIYARI INDEFINITELY
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc, has recommended the immediate suspension of DCP Abba Kyari, who is the Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), from the Service of the Nigeria Police Force, pending the outcome of an ongoing internal investigations bothering on his indictment of $1m fraud.
Police Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, who dropped the hint on Sunday morning said, the IGP made the recommendation to the Police Service Commission via a letter dated July 31.
Mba added that the suspension is also expected to create an enabling environment for the Nigeeian Police Force Special Investigation Panel to carry out its internal investigations into the indictment.
DCP Abba Kyari was indicted by a suspected fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, currently standing trial for internet fraud in the United States.
WHY RACHEL ONIGA DIED
The family of Rachel Oniga has revealed that the veteran actress died of heart related disease contrary to reports that she died from COVID-19 complications.
A statement released by the family and signed by the deceased’s sister, Deaconess Toyin Odusote, disclosed that Oniga who passed away Friday night at the age of 64 had been battling the ailment for some time now.
“We accept her sudden transition as God’s design and we see it as a function of a race of life well finished.
Painful as it may be, we accept it in good faith and total submission to her
maker.

Public Relations Officer of theActors’ Guild, Lagos State chapter,Olamilekan Ojora, has also debunked reports that actress, Rachel Oniga, died from COVID-19 complications.
He revealed that the veteran actress had only a few days ago shot some scenes in a movie in Mowe, Ogun State, before her demise on Friday night.
Ojora also disclosed that they (himself and Oniga) were supposed to meet on The Sensation Movie set the following (Saturday) morning.
Oniga, who hailed from Eku in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State, was born on 23 May,
1957, in Ebute- Metta, Lagos State.
The actress, who featured in some of the best English and Yoruba movies, became a household name after starring in the Yoruba classic “OwoBlow.”
She worked briefly at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant Company before she made her acting debut in the Nollywood classic (Memorial Hospital) in 1993 and her debut Yoruba movie was ‘Owo Blow.
After the separation, she took up acting again. She also revealed in that
interview that one of her regrets in life was that she did not fight for her marriage.

ONE KILLED AS APC CONGRESS ENDS IN VIOLENCE
At least one person is feared dead with many others injured in the violence that marred some wards in Ekiti State on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress conducted its ward congresses across the 16
government areas.
The violence, according to Sources, may not be unconnected with the disagreement over the consensus mode that the party’s national body adopted for the congresses which didn’t go down well with some members of the party.
It was gathered that the development pitched the incumbent Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who insisted on the consensus arrangement across the
177 wards, in against the other camp which consists of mainly members of the South West Agenda 2023 (SWAGA) sticking out their neck for the election and the battle line was drawn.
While the group loyal to Governor Kayode Fayemi, who embraced consensus had expected smooth sail
in the exercise, the other group, mainly members of South West Agenda for
Asiwaju 2023.
It was alleged that one, identified as Jide, who
sustained injuries from several stabs in the violence at ward 10, Pavilion close to the popular Fajuyi in Ado Ekiti, was later confirmed dead at the General Hospital, while others were receiving treatment from various degree of injuries they sustained to while the violence lasted.
It was gathered that thugs were allegedly on the rampage In wards 4, 8, 9 and 10 amongst other wards to disrupt voting, unleashed mayhem on the people and destroyed vehicles in the process.
The Ekiti State SWAGA Chairman, Senator Tony Adeniyi, said, there was no election in Ekiti because there was no accreditation across the wards.
“The Fayemi Tokan Tokan people manipulated the process and prevented people from voting for their preferred leaders, especially SWAGA members.
Also in Ado-Ekiti, there was violence in Ward 4 and 8 as thugs went on rampage to disrupt the voting process.
“I can confirm to you that there was violence in Ikere-Ekiti, virtually all the wards in Ado-Ekiti we had violence and several people wounded and also in Ward 10, someone was killed. ls that how to do a congress? ” the SWAGA Chairman stated.
Chairperson of Ado Local Government, Mrs Omotunde Fajuyi, who participated in the congress in Ward 10, said the process was peaceful and devoid of any violence.
Fajuyi said, “As you aware today, Ward 10 congress was peaceful during the congress and we had only one person who contested for ward chairmanship position, and was elected unopposed.
“The process went peacefully and nobody had any cause to fight but we were told some persons had disagreement later after we left the place and one of them is dead. As I speak with you now, lam going to the hospital.” She said.
PROTEST ROCKS RE-ENACTED EDO PRIVATE PROPERTY PROTECTION LAW
Members of the Association of Ekaighele (youth leaders) in Benin Kingdom, have staged a peaceful protest against a recent law made by Obaseki’s administration, proscribing their existence.
The protesters besieged the popular popular King’s Sqaure (Ring Road), Benin, the state capital, causing heavy gridlock with mitorists and commuters trapped in the gridlock for several hours.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners with various inscriptions such as; “We are proud of our King’, “Governor Obaseki, you are not our spiritual father “We are Okaigheles to the Palace of Oba of Benin, not
Government House, Benin City’, amongst others.
The protesters also visited the Palace of the Benin Monarch to register their grievances and thereafter proceeded to the NUJ Press Centre, Benin City, where they also intimated Reporters present of their mission.
Addressing reporters at NUJ Press Centre, Chairman of the Association of Ekaighele, Glory Ikponmwosa, disclosed that they were not political
appointees.
He said they were not politicians and cannot be treated as such, emphasizing that they were ready to resist any attempt to reduce their rights as traditional citizens of Benin Kingdom by anyone or group of persons.
“We are natives of Benin Kingdom and we cannot be intimidated or oppressed, under any guise.
“Okaighele is an age-long traditional position under the Benin native laws and customs, which are over 400 years old, not recent creations.
“Edo State government and Obaseki’s administration do not have business or rights to ban Okaigheles to operate
in Benin Kingdom, under the Benin Traditional Council law of Edo State.
“Under the Benin Traditional Council settings, communities have leadership structures, which comprise the Odionwere, the Ohen, the Okaigheles, and the Enogies” Glory Ikponmwosa added.
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki recently assented to a law passed by members of Edo House of Assembly, through a bill
that repealed the Edo State Private Property Protection Law 2017, thereby re-enacting the Edo State Private Property Protection Law 2021.
GUNMEN BEHEADS MECHANIC, PALWINE TAPPER
A 70-year-old retired
mechanic, Felix Okechukwu, has been beheaded by gunmen.
The deceased, popularly
known as Akaonyewetere, in Okporo community, in the Orlu Local Government Area of the state, was allegedly killed by the assailants in the early hours of Wednesday.
It was alleged that the assailants also beheaded a palm wine tapper identified as Berechukwu Udemba and thereafter, severed their heads and paraded same on a table at the Orie Okporo Community market square.
COURT REMANDS FATHER FOR DEFILING HIS THREE DAUGHTERS
A 48-year-old man, Igbo
Thomas, has been remanded at the Awka Correctional Centre on the orders of an Anambra State High Court for defiling his three daughters.
It was alleged that the accused, a native of Enugu State, committed the offence at Enuoji village in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
He was arrested by men of the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence
Corps on May 24, 2021, at the Okolo Ani village, Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The suspect who reportedly confessed to the crime blamed his action on the influence of alcohol.
SINGLE MOTHER STABS DAUGHTER TO DEATH
The woman also stabbed another of her children with a broken bottle in the hand which led to the victim’s hospitalisation.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested
a 45-year-old single mother, Kafayat Lawal, for allegedly stabbing her 17-year-old daughter with a piece of broken bottle.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who
disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the suspect locked her two daughters in a room where she beat and injured them with a broken bottle.
Oyeyemi stated Kafayat was consequently arrested following an information
received by the Divisional Police Officer, Ogijo Divisional headquarters,
CSP Mohammed Baba.
According to him, “Upon information, the DPO mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the two victims were
rescued and taken to hospital for treatment before one of them gave up the ghost.
On interrogation, the suspect who claimed to have separated from her husband nine years ago informed the police that her two daughters left home during the Sallah and didn’t ratirn till the her two daughters left home during the Sallah and didn’t return till the
following day.
“This infuriated her, and when she wanted to beat them, people around pleaded on their behalf and she left them, only for them to go out again the
following day and passed the night outside. It was the annoyance that made her lock them inside and injured them both with a broken bottle.

The PPRO finally disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
IGP ORDERS PROBE OF ABBA KYARI AS HUSPUPPI ‘SINGS’
Following the allegation and indictment of DCP, Abba Kyari, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba Alkali has reacted to allegations linking Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari to the Abbas Ramoni Olorunwa AKA Huspuppi, and his fraudand his fraud syndicate.
Hushpuppi who is undergoing trial for fraud across different countries
has pleaded guilty and named other persons with links to his illicit activities
including a ‘Super Cop’ Abba Kyari, for his involvement in the saga.
A warrant for the arrest of Kyari has been issued in the ongoing trial of Hushpuppi, leading to trending reports about Kyari’s involvement in
the case which Kyari has denied.

“Sequel to the receipt of allegations and indictment processes from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against one of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Abba Kyari, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc (+), NPM, fdc has ordered an internal review of the
allegations.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of justice and the strengthening of its professional relationship with the FBI and other international partners.
Further developments on this case will be communicated to members of the public accordingly” the statement concluded.
HUNTERS NABS KIDNAPPERS
Two suspected kidnappers have been nabbed by hunters from the Okehi local government council of Kogi State.
The security operatives recovered three guns were recovered from the alleged kidnappers who sources say have been terrorizing the area.
Chairman of the Okehi Local Government Area, Hon Abdulraheem Ozovehe, who led the operations to the kidnapper’s hideout in Arima, Ijumu local government council, said
they recovered two guns from Murne Beji, a locally made medium barrelled
revolver using AK 47 bullets and a revolver using AK 47 bullets and a locally made long-barrel gun.
He discovered that two other members of the kidnap gang who were at large, Kadi Abdullahi and Rabiu Muhammadu (Rabe) were also nabbed and a locally made pistol was recovered from them.
According to him, the suspect are currently in the custody of security men and helping the agencies with useful information that would help the security personnel in the arrest of others members.
