A 20-year-old divorcee, has been arrested by men of the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly poinsoning her 3-day-old baby to death.
The young divorcee, Amina Umar, confessed to killing the baby with a rat poinson because, the 22-year-old man she had the child for, identified as Baba Musa, could not live up to his responsibility for the child.
Sources disclosed that Amina, who was divorced by her former husband, met Buba Musa, with whom she had the baby for on the 14th of March, 2022 and killed the child with rat poison on 17th March 2022.
It was gathered that after administering the child with the poinson, Amina told her neighbours that her baby was sick, unknowing become sick, her neighbours was suspicious of her moves, having overheard her sending a boy to buy her rat poison.
Spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspect was arrested by Officers of the Madagali Police Division, adding that will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
