The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman who allegedly poured petrol on her 10-year-old daughter and set her ablaze
The suspect, Aisha Tijani, amother of five, was reported to the Mower Police Division by a neighbour, identified as Moroof Ayinde.
Ayinde told the police that the suspect became angry with the victim for giving a phone she seized from one of her children back to the owner.
Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told Newsmen that, upon receipt of the information, the DPO, Mowe Division, CSP Folashade Tanaruno, mobilized Officers to the scene of crime where the suspect was arrested.
The PPRO disclosed that the victim, who was badly burnt, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was referred to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), for proper treatment and care.
“On interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have been separated from the father of the children, explained to the police that she didn’t know what came over her when she was carrying out the wicked act,” Oyeyemi said.
Oyeyemi added that the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the suspect be investigated at the State CID.
