
Troops of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, 211 Quick Response Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police, have dislodged the stronghold of the armed wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
A statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations , Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said the operation was conducted in the early hours of Monday January 17, 2022.
The Army statement revealed that it was a well coordinated dawn attack on the fortress, where plans were being perfected bybthe dissident groups to violently enforce the illegitimate sit-at-home declaration.
The troops, according to the statement, recovered IPOB includes laptops, mobile phones, IPOB flags, two locally made guns, 10 Pump Action Shotguns, one Revolver pistol, rounds of 7.62 mm special, live cartridges and some manchettes.
The statement also disclosed that many were killed in Lilu Forest of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, a place notorious for being the operational base of the group.
It added that some gunmen we’re also neutralized while the operation lasted.
Lilu is a border town between Imo and Anambra States, which soldiers said had been hitherto known to be used as an operational base of the dissidents.
