RAPE VICTIM’S FATHER REMANDED FOR COLLECTING N800,000 BRIBE, IPO FINGERED

One Collins Azunna has been remanded in the Custodial Centre, on the orders of a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt Centre, for allegedly collectinng the sum of eight hundred thousand naira from the Defendant, Collins Azunna, who allegedly defiled his 12-year-old daughter.

The Defendant counsel, Edwin Woka, told the court that the victim’s father had collected the sum of N800,000 from family of the Defendant.

He added that his client was charged to court for refusing to further extortion by the victim’s father.

In his response, Counsel to the complainant, E.B Igwe, Wigoh Enuolara, argued that it was the Investigating Police Officer at the Eleme Division where the case was incidented, identified as Rita, who persuaded the victim’s father to yield to accepting the money.

After perusing case files, the Presiding Chief Magistrate F.N Amanze, observed that there was a document showing that the victim’s father actually collected money and withdrew the case before the Eleme Police Division.

The Court adourned the matter to 13th January 2022 and accordinglly ordered the Defendant and the father of the victim be remanded at Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.
