Officials of Edo State Public Works Volunteers (PUWOV), has arrested one Sunday James, who was allegedly parading himself as a Colonel in the Nigerian Army.
State Coordinator of PUWOV, Mukhtar Yusuf-Osagie, who disclosed this to John in Benin City said the fake military officer was apprehended at the Oba Ovonramwen Square in Benin, with an identification card of the Civil Intelligence Agency (CIA).
He accused the fake soldier of intimidating and oppressing residents and traders of the area, adding that the fake soldier was arrested following intelligence reports and complaints from the residents of the area.
Yusuf-Osagie disclosed that the suspect who was wearing a military uniform with a fake identity card as at the time of his arrest, has been handed over to the Oba market police division for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“The suspect was arrested following a tip-off that he had been presenting himself as a serving soldier in the area for a while, and had been intimidating and harassing residents, traders and other persons at Oba Ovonranmen Square, Benin, and its environs.” Yusuf-Osagie added.
