Suspected bandits, Sunday evening, reportedly stormed and opened fire in a market in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto State killing several people.
According to reports, the bandits came in their large numbers using motorcycles for the operation when people were already preparing to return to their homes after the day’s business activities.
Speaking on the incident, Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, when he received the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya in Government House, said the Army operation in Zamfara State has worsened the security situation in Sokoto State lately.
While appealing to the COAS to beef up security in the State, Tambuwal noted that people were killed in their tens when bandits struck on Sunday,
