VIGILANTE BEATEN TO DEATH FOR KILLING COMMUNITY LEADER

It was a case of double tragedy at Ukpiovwin Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta state when a local vigilante, identified as Mr David Power, was beaten to death for allegedly killing a former President-General of
the Ukpiovwin community.

The incident, according to Sources, happened on Monday at the community’s secondary school during the
swearing-in of the new executive committee of the Community.

The Source disclosed that the late President General, Fredrick Ighoahemusua, had left the celebration venue after handing over to his successor, when he was called bact to partake in a group photograph session and the vigilante started shooting sporadically into the air.

“At a point, as he was shooting, his pump action gun did not respond. He
brought the gun down and was trying to fix it when it discharged and the bullet hit the immediate past PG in the chest and he died on the spot” The Source narrated.

Obviously aware of what had happened, the vigilante quickly mounted his motorcycle, in a bit to heading for the police station to report himself,, but some angry youths gave him a hot chase, caught him at the railway line and marched him back to the scene of crime where he was eventually beaten to death.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, emphasizing that the late Community Leader was 51 years old.
