A Benin High Court, Criminal Division, has remanded three persons in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Centre for alleged armed robbery related charges.
The suspects; Frank Jonathan, 24, Uyi Ekogiawe,19, Imafidon Godwin, 32, and others now at large were to have on 2nd July, 2021, at Azagba Community, Benin City, allegedly conspired to commit Armed Robbery, contrary to Section 6 (b) and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Robbery and Firearm (Special Próvisions) Act, Cap R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
It was also alleged that the suspects and others now at large, on the same date, time, place allegedly robbed one Samuel of his Lexus ES 330 Saloon Car with Reg No. BEN 31 BK valued at N1,900,000.00, one Tecno Spark 5 pro mobile phone valued at N58,000.00 and one Tecno Camon 15 Air mobile phone valued at N60,000.00.
The victim was also allegedly robbed of an Itel mobile phone value at N3,500.00, one Dell Laptop valued at N70,000.00, one Plasma Television Set valued at N75,000.00 and one Jeans Trousers containing the cash sum of N127,000.00.
The Prosecution further alleged that at the time of the robbery, the suspects you were armed with guns, contrary to Section 1 (2) (a) and punishable under Section 1 ligeria, (3) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
That you Frank Jonathan, Uyi Ekogiawe and Imafidon Godwin and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, while armed with guns, allegedly robbed a POS Operator, identified as Favour, of a cash sum of N113,000.00, one Tecno Spark mobile phone valued at N47,000.00 and one power bank valued at N6,000.00 from her POS shop.
Making their remand order, Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Efe Ikponmwoba, directed that their case file be duplicated and forwarded to the office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for legal advice.
