Six persons who allegedly murdered a young man in Benin City on children’s day have been remanded in Police custody by a Benin High Court, Criminal Division, sitting in Benin City.
The Defendants; Jabi Osula(29), Ikechukwu Amah(20), Omon Oyen(22), Bidemi Obafemi(29), Osagiede Kelvin (20) and Oziegbe Egharevba(19), were alleged on the charge sheet to have According to the charge sheet, conspired with others now at large, on 27th May 2020, to murder one Christopher Ekhomu with a cut-to-size single barrel gun.
They allegedly trailed the victim to Sun Gas at upper Mission Road in Benin City, were they shot him with a him on be his neck which led to his death.
The Defendants were alleged belong to a secret cult group, an offence punishable under relevant sections of the law.
They also allegedly had in their possession a cut-to-size single barrel gun and three live cartridges which they carried without lawful authority and valid license.
The court, having heard the application of the Prosecution, accordingly remanded them in the custody of the Edo State Police Command and ordered that their case file be duplicated and forwarded to the office of the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice
